Recording Settings
Configure how ClipMac captures your gameplay.
What to Record#
Choose your capture mode before starting a recording:
| Mode | Description | Best For |
|---|---|---|
| Full Screen | Records your entire display, including all windows and apps | Multi-tasking, alt-tabbing between games and apps |
| Game Only | Records only the selected game window(s), hiding everything else | Clean recordings, streaming, privacy |
Note: You must select this setting before starting a new recording. It cannot be changed mid-recording.
Replay Buffer#
The replay buffer determines how far back you can save clips using Instant Replay or Capture Clip.
| Tier | Maximum Buffer |
|---|---|
| Free | 30 seconds |
| Basic | 10 minutes |
| Pro | 30 minutes |
How it works: ClipMac continuously records in the background while the buffer is active. When you trigger a clip capture, it saves from this buffer — so you never miss a moment.
Tip: Longer buffers use more memory and disk space. For most gaming, 2-5 minutes is sufficient.
Clip Durations#
Configure the default length for each capture action:
| Action | Default | Description |
|---|---|---|
| Instant Replay | 15 seconds | Quick captures for highlights |
| Capture Clip | 30 seconds | Longer captures for extended moments |
Both actions save from the replay buffer — the only difference is duration. Adjust these using the sliders in the Recording section of the dashboard.
